I am directed by the bearetary of Sute for India in Council to acknowle, ge the receipt of your letter No.G.R.I. 2953 dated the 3rd August, 1980, on the subject of certain crrängarents which it is proposed to make to control the export of opian, and of kindred druga, from the United Kingdom. Board of trade desire to learn whether the Government of India The would be prepared to participate in these arrangementa.

It is understood that this enquiry is directed to erős ascertaining whether the doverment of India would be prepared to co-operate in giving offset to the arrange: ents proposed in 'drift note", in so far as experts from the United Kingdom to India of the druga emunnested in paragraph 2 of that note are 4038erned.

The arrangements at present in force governing the export enosine and similar draga from the United Kingdom to India are substantially in keverd with the precedure proposed in the "dmft nɔta".
